For many, what is real is interpretation, and that interpretation is more often than not the result of some media they encountered; whether that media be the television news, a newspaper, a magazine, a religious text, a book, a film, or the voice of some assumed authority. They are all secondhand. Rarely is that interpretation the result of deep personal inquiry, investigation, and insight. These interpretations are all desperately clung to like a life raft in the swells of a black hole.
Humanity has become a battlefield within which the most authoritative, ultimate interpretation of reality, of the way things are, or the way things are supposed to be, is waged. This creates a rigid identity that’s constantly prepared to do war.
